From Ash Wednesday to Easter

leave a comment

The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal organized a Stations of the Cross, last Wednesday in the Bronx, with people they host in two shelters next to their convent.

Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent for Christians. Faithfuls are imposed ashes on the forehead, as a sign of repentance and humility before God. When applying the ashes, the priest says: « Remember, Man is dust, and unto dust you shall return. »

During the forty days of lent, Christians are going to prepare themselves to Easter, the most important liturgical feast of the year where they celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
